2 crude mortar shells recovered from BSRM’s Sitakunda factory
Two crude mortat shells found at BSRM Sitkundo factory premise.
Chattogram, Feb 28 -Two crude artillery mortar shells were recovered from one of the factories of steelmaker BSRM in industrial hub Sitakunda upazila of the district on Tuesday.
Later, a team of Bomb Disposal Unit of Chattogram Metropolitan Police (CMP) fused the mortar shells.
Police said the factory’s workers spotted the mortar shells while working inside it in Baro Aulia area under Sonaichhari union of the upazila at noon.
They also informed that the shells came with consignments of scrap products from abroad on February 25.
Tofail Ahmed, officer-in-charge of Sitakunda police station, said the BSRM’s Assistant Manager Abu Yousuf informed them about the matter after noticing two objects like bombs.
Later, police recovered the shells from the spot and subsequently those were disabled by the CMP Bomb Disposal Unit, he said.
No explosion occurred, the OC added. - UNB
