Police said they did not find any involvement with Chhatra Shibir against three students of Pabna University of Science and Technology (PUST), who were allegedly tortured by BCL activists.
Meanwhile, three injured students of the university were handed over to their families as the university authorities did not lodge any complaint against them.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Pabna Sadar Police Station Kripa Shindhu Bala confirmed the information.
BCL men allegedly tortured the three students at a residential hall on Tuesday night and early Wednesday, on allegations against the three being involved with Chhatra Shibir.
The three injured are— Golam Rahman Joy, 25, a master’s student of public administration; Asadul Islam, 23, a senior-year student of English; and Azizul Haque, 23, a third-year student of engineering.
According to sources, a group of BCL men suddenly charged the three students when they were at Shaheed Minar compound on Tuesday night.
They then took the three to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Hall and allegedly tortured them.
Around 3:00am, the proctor called the police and handed the injured over to them.
