Tipu-Prity murder
A Dhaka court on Sunday set June 15 for submission of probe report in a case lodged over the murder of Awami League leader Zahidul Islam Tipu and college student Samia Afran Prity in the city’s Shahjahanpur area.
Earlier, June 16 was fixed for submission of the probe report, but the Investigation Officer of the case failed to submit the report, prompting Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Sheikh Sadi of Dhaka CMM Court to fix the fresh date.
Tipu, who was on his microbus destined for his home, was shot dead by a masked assailant in the capital’s Shahjahanpur area at the night of March 24 of last year.
Rickshaw passenger Samia Afran Prity was also killed in the incident.
Tipu’s wife Farhana Islam Dolly filed the case with Shahjahanpur Police station on the next day (March 25).
Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police arrested main shooter Masum Mohammad alias Akash from Bogura. During primary interrogation, Masum admitted that he killed Tipu. - Special Correspondent
