3 jailed for life over murder in Sylhet

A court here Wednesday sentenced three people to life-term imprisonment for killing a microbus driver namely Abdal Mia in Osmani Nagar Upazila of the district in 2012.

 A court here Wednesday sentenced three people to life-term imprisonment for killing a microbus driver namely Abdal Mia in Osmani Nagar Upazila of the district in 2012.

Additional Metropolitan and Sessions Judge Nure Alam Bhuiyan handed down the verdict to Dalim Mia, hailed from Kagospur village in Osmani Nagar Upazila, Md Dulal Mia, an inhabitant in Kanaighat Upazila and Ismail Hossain alias Aliur Rahman, a resident in Balaganj Upazila in the district.

According to the prosecution on July 19 in 2012 the convicts killed microbus driver Abdal Mia, 24, and snatched his microbus. Following the murder victim's uncle filed a case with Osmani Nagar Thana. Police pressed the charge sheet later.

The court also fined each of the convicts Tk 50000. If they fail to pay the amount they will serve one year more in jail, said Public Prosecutor advocate Md Jubayer Bakht.
