The bodies of three unidentified people, including two children, were recovered from separate places in the capital on Saturday.

Locals spotted a man aged around 70 lying unconscious on the pavement between gates 1 and 2 of Azimpur Cemetery on Saturday afternoon and informed police, said Huzaifa Hossain, sub-inspector of Lalbagh Police Station, reports UNB.

On information, police rescued the man and took him to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.

The man wearing a lungi might have died due to old-age complications, he said.

However, the exact cause of death will be known after getting the post-mortem report.

The body has been kept at the hospital morgue for an autopsy.

Abul Kalam Azad, officer-in-charge (OC) of Mohammadpur police station, said they recovered the bodies of two children from the lake of Rayer Bazar Bodhyo Bhumi (intellectual) memorial in Mohammadpur around 5 pm.

Police suspect that the children drowned while taking a bath in the lake.

The bodies were sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College and Hospital morgue for autopsies, he added.
