Natore, Sep 3 -Four people, including a woman, sustained bullet injuries when shots were fired during a clash over occupying disputed land in Lalpur upazila of Natore this morning.

The injured -- Asad, 30; Bajlu, 33; Abdul Hannan, 40; and Hasina Begum, 50 -- are undergoing treatment at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital (RMCH).

Locals and police said that there has been a longstanding dispute between Abdur Razzaque and his neighbour Abu Bakar over the ownership of a land in Rasulpur village.

Abu Bakar's people faced resistance from Abdur Razzaque’s side when the former went to to occupy the land around 6:30 am, they said.

At one stage of the altercation, Bakar’s group allegedly opened fire -- leaving the four injured, according to them.

The injured were first sent to the Upazila Health Complex and later moved to RMCH for better treatment.

Confirming the incident, Lalpur Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge Ujjal Hossain said a team was sent to the spot to bring the situation under control. - UNB
