DU female student ‘abducted’ in Sajek

A Dhaka University (DU) student has reportedly been abducted by some armed miscreants in Sajek of Baghaichari upazila in Rangamati.



A Dhaka University (DU) student has reportedly been abducted by some armed miscreants in Sajek of Baghaichari upazila in Rangamati.

The DU student was identified as Dipita Chakma, 25, daughter of Shitendra Bikash Chakma, a resident of Khagrachari sadar.

Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP)of Rangamati  Abdul Awal said Dipita, a student of masters in the Department of Public Administration of DU, was travelling to Sajek with her friends from Khagrachhari.

He said a group of unidentified armed miscreants intercepted their vehicle on Dighinala-Sajek road in Sergeant Kamal Chattar area of Shijokchara at around 12pm on Wednesday and abducted her. 

The miscreants freed the Bengali friends of Dipital but reportedly abducted her, the official said.

He said a rescue operation is underway in connection with the incident
