Former BCL leader Azad sent to jail

Azad was allegedly picked up by Detective Branch (DB) of police.



Azad Hossain, who stamped on 43 ballots in the open during a by-election in Lakshmipur-3 constituency, has been sent to jail.

Senior Judicial Magistrate Belaet Hossain of a Chandraganj court passed the order on Saturday.

Chandraganj Thana produced him before the court.

Earlier, he was allegedly picked up by Detective Branch (DB) of police.

His brother Alamgir Hossain alleged that his bother Azad Hossain was picked up by DB police around 6:00am on Friday.

A video of the former leader of BCL went viral on Facebook where he is seen stamping on the ‘boat’ symbol in ballot papers in the open during a by-election in Lakshmipur-3 constituency.

The 57-second video, which went viral on social media on Monday, shows the former BCL leader stamping on 43 ballots. Another person was seen helping him.
