Murder attempt case, warrant against 2 Kalapara councilors

Shawon attack accused Kalapara councilors.

Patuakhali: The court has issued an arrest warrant in the name of two brothers and municipal councilors Zaki Hossain Zuku, Khairul Hasnat Khalid and 8 others in the case of attempted murder of a young man named Shaon (35) in Kalapara of Patuakhali. On Wednesday (February 7), the court accepted the police report of the inhuman incident and rejected the defendants' application and issued an arrest warrant. And considering the two accused permanent bail, who were present in the court. Court GR wing police officer Md Kawsar confirmed this order.

Earlier on July 17, 2023, the learned Senior Judicial Magistrate Court directed the OC, Kalapara to lodge FIR about Shaon incident after hearing statement of Shaon. Later, 8 people including two brothers Councilor Zuku, Khalid got 6 weeks anticipatory bail from the High Court. At the end of the bail period of the High Court, on September 7, 2023, the Patuakhali Chief Judicial Magistrate Court extended the bail of the accused till the police report after hearing the bail application. 

Relatedly, on the evening of 13 February 2013, 10 armed terrorists, including Zuku, Khalid, Babu, Nahid, tried to kill Shaon on the street in front of Jhalak Fashion House in the city for demanding due money. During this time, the terrorists inflicted serious injuries on the victim's head and various parts of the body with sharp weapons. At one point, they cut the veins of Shaon's arms and legs and left the scene, thinking that he would die due to excessive blood loss. When the locals tried to protect him, the fierce Zuku-Khalid forces gave chase with sharp weapons in their hands. After this hellish incident, the victim's father threatened to burn down the whole family's house if he prepared to file a complaint with the police station. Then, defying all fears, when Shaon came to file a case in the court to get a trial for brutality against him, the terrorists captured Shaon and tortured him inhumanly in their torso cell.

Shaon told the media, "I have come to the court for the trial of the heinous deionization of the Zuku-Khalid forces on me. I want the help of the government to get justice."

In this regard, Councilor Zaki Hossain Zuku said, "I and my younger brother, being jealous of the popularity of Councilor Khalid, political opponents have filed a false case involving us with the incident of 10 years ago for dishonest purposes." - Gofran Biswas Palash
