32 transport extortionists arrested

Commanding Officer of RAB-1 Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Mostaq Ahmad told media Thursday.



 Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested 32 transport extortionists from Dhaka, Narayanganj and Gazipur districts on Monday night.

Being informed, separate team of RAB conducted separate drive in Dhaka, Gazipur and Narayanganj and arrested them on Wednesday, Commanding Officer of RAB-1 Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Mostaq Ahmad told media Thursday.

RAB also recovered Taka 1,02,865, six flashlights, three target lines, one charger light, 29 receipts, four reflective best jackets, two sticks, 25 Mobile phone and one headphone from them. 

The arrested admitted that they used to extort money from the drivers of cargo vehicles on various roads and highways of Dhaka, Narayanganj and Gazipur.

Legal action has been taken against them.
