RAB arrests 37 teen gang members in Dhaka

Dhaka, Feb 23 - Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested 37 members of “teen gangs”, although their age range is between 15-45, along with drugs, and sharp weapons from different areas of Dhaka and its surrounding areas on Thursday.

Tipped off, a team of RAB-1 conducted drives in the capital’s Mohakhali, Banani, Airport, Tongi and Gazipur areas and arrested them, Lieutenant Colonel Muhammad Mostaq Ahmad, commanding officer of RAB-1 said in a press conference.

The arrestees are Russell,17, Arafat,17, Robin,15, Al-Amin,24, Islam,29, Jewel,22, Rabiul,16, Murad,17, Mahabub,19, Saad,22, Rohan,22, Mona,28, Hriday,20, Obayed,18, Md Zisan,19, Md Akash,30, Md Emon,20, Md Ramzan,21, Md Sajib 18, Md Shakib,22, Md Rajib,19, Md Amir Hossain,36, Shahjahan Saju alias Russell,45, Md Zilad Miah,20, Md Hriday,19, A Raihan,15, Md Babu Miah,22, Md Shahjahan,21, Md Jalal Miah,28, Lamim Miah,15, Md Rakib,16, Md Hira Miah,17, Imrul Hasan,17, Md Sakin Sarkar Rabbi,18, Md Sujan Miah,19, Khairul,19 and Rahat,19.

They identified themselves as members of different groups including Kishor Gang-007 Group, Baba Group, Jaura Group, D Company and Jahangir Group.

During the drives, RAB seized 500 grams of Ganja, 24 mobiles, one blade, one axe, one power bank, five rods, 16 knives, three iron chains, one hammer, one motorcycle and cash Taka 24,250 from their possession, added the officer.

Process is underway to take legal action against them, said the RAB official.-UNB
