“India extending full support to Bangladesh regarding Anar case”

Dhaka, May 30 - India has said their government is extending full support to the Bangladesh side as part of ongoing investigation into reported murder of Jhenaidah-4 MP Anwarul Azim Anar.

"From our side the government is extending full support to the Bangladesh side as part of the ongoing investigation into the matter," official spokesperson at the Ministry of External Affairs Randhir Jaiswal told reporters in a weekly briefing in New Delhi on Thursday.

He said, this particular case is "being investigated" and law enforcement agencies from both Bangladesh and India are coordinating and necessary information is being exchanged.

Meanwhile, Bangladesh police have sought cooperation from India to bring back Aktaruzzaman Shaheen, the alleged mastermind behind the reported murder of Anar, from the United States (US) through Interpol.

The Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) chief Additional Commissioner Harunor Rashid said this to reporters at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport after returning from Kolkata on Thursday.-UNB
