Husband murders pregnant wife in Thakurgaon

Dhaka, May 31 - A pregnant woman was strangled to death by her husband in Rahimanpur village of Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila.

The deceased, Sahanaz Begum, 21, was four months pregnant and married to Bisal Rahman of the same village. The incident occurred early Friday (May 31) in Uttarpara village of Rahimanpur Union.

Rahimanpur Union Parishad Chairman Abdul Hannan Hannu confirmed the incident and stated that there had been ongoing disputes between the couple for several days. They had another argument last night. It is presumed that she was strangled to death. The husband and his family members fled during the night.

ABM Feroz Wahid, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Thakurgaon Sadar Police Station, said that the body has been sent to the morgue for autopsy. Legal action will be taken once a complaint is received.

Mithun Sarkar, Additional Superintendent of Police of Thakurgaon Sadar Circle, mentioned that the police recovered the body upon reaching the scene. Since all the family members are absconding, it is initially suspected to be a case of murder. The exact details will be known after a thorough investigation.-UNB
