Father accused of raping 9-year-old daughter in Brahmanbaria

Brahmanbaria, July 14 - A father has been accused of raping his 9-year-old daughter in Bijoynagar Upazila, Brahmanbaria. He has gone into hiding to avoid arrest.

The incident occurred early Saturday morning (July 13) in Fulbaria village, Patton Union, and since then, the victim's father, Shahabuddin Shah (40), has been on the run. Shahabuddin Shah is the son of Moin Uddin Shah from Fulbaria village in Patton Union.

On the night of the incident, the victim was admitted to the gynecology department of the Brahmanbaria 250-Bed General Hospital.

The victim's mother stated that her husband Shahabuddin took their daughter to fishing and led her to a secluded spot near Jagannathpur, close to Fulbaria Government Primary School at around 5am on Saturday. There, he gagged and raped her. He then threatened her not to tell anyone.

When the girl returned home and informed her mother, the father’s family initially tried to cover up the incident. However, as the girl’s condition worsened and she needed medical attention, Shahabuddin fled. Upon hearing about the incident, the police arrived and took the victim to the district hospital for treatment.

The victim's mother demanded justice and called for the execution of her husband, Shahabuddin Shah.

Md. Hasan Jamil Khan, Inspector (Investigation) of Bijoynagar Police Station, confirmed the incident and said that the victim is currently undergoing medical treatment for forensic examination.
