Two AL workers shot dead in Chattogram

Primary investigation suggests that the incident occurred due to previous enmity



Chattogram, Aug 30 - Miscreants shot and killed two Awami League workers in the Kuiyash Burischar area of Hathazari Police Station in the district.

The incident occurred in front of Nahar Garden in the Kuiyash Burischar Sheikh Mohammad City Corporation College area on Thursday night.

Madunaghat Police Outpost In-charge Mohiuddin Sumon confirmed the incident.

The deceased were Md Anis (38) of the West Kuiyash area and Masud Kaiser (32) of the West Koyash (Billa Bari) area of Shikarpur Union, Ward-14 in Hathazari.

They were followers of AL leader Yunus Gani Chowdhury, former chairman of Hathazari Upazila Parishad.

According to eyewitnesses and police, Anis and Kaiser were walking along the Oxygen-Kuiyash road. When they reached the Nahar Community Centre area, two assailants on motorcycles randomly fired shots at them. Both fell to the ground after being shot. The assailants quickly fled the scene. 

Chattogram Acting Superintendent of Police Wasim Firoz told the media that the two were seriously injured in the shooting on the Oxygen-Kuiyash road. Anis died on the spot, while Kaiser was declared dead by the doctors after being taken to the hospital. 

Primary information suggested that the incident occurred due to prior enmity, he said.-UNB
