Rapid Action Battalion-(RAB) 2 drive

Dhaka, Oct 29 - Members of Rapid Action Battalion-2 (RAB) arrested eight hijackers early Tuesday during a drive in Dhaka’s Mohammadpur area.

Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (media) Shihab Karim confirmed the matter on Tuesday morning.

The arrestees are Md. Tamim, Md. Naim, Md. Hasan, Md. Rakib, Md. Liton, Md. Russell, Md. Limon, and Md. Jubayer.

Locally-made sharp weapons, including samurai swords, knives, and machetes, were seized from them at the time of the arrest.

Efforts are on to tackle organised crime in the area. “We acted on a tip-off, and our teams were able to disrupt their plans and prevent any potential attacks on innocent citizens,” said the official.

The arrestees have been handed over to Mohammadpur Police Station for further investigation and legal proceedings.-UNB
