Drug addict suspect kills mother, surrenders to police in Cox’s Bazar

Cox’s Bazar, Nov 23 - A 28-year-old drug addict suspect surrendered to police after reportedly killing his mother as she refused to pay him money to get drug at Paschim Barua Para in Cox’s Bazar municipality area early Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Anwar Begum Merry, 55, wife of Niaz Ahmed.

Elias Khan, officer-in-charge of Sadar Police Station, said Hussain Mohammad Abid went to the police station and surrendered to police after admitting his crime.

According to his statement, Abid stabbed his mother Merry with a sharp weapon around 2:30 am as she refused to pay money sought by him, leaving her dead on the spot.

Getting repentant, he then surrendered to police.

Police recovered the body and sent it to the local hospital morgue for autopsy.

Abid often used to torture his mother for money, Police added.-UNB
