11 robbers in DGFI disguise held in Chattogram

Police in a drive arrested eleven members of a gang while they were preparing to commit robbery in the guise of Directorate General of Forces Intelligence (DGFI) members from Khulshi in Chattogram district on Friday night.


The arrestees were identified as Md Wazed, 36, Md Hossain, 42, Rubel hossain, 25, Mohi uddin, 45, Abdus Sabur, 37, Md Yeakub, 35, Mozaher Alam, 55, Md Romel, 41, Osman, 24, Abdul Mannan, 35 and Shawkat Akbar, 28.

Mujibur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Khulshi Police Station, said thirteen robbers in a microbus entered a multistoried building in Khulshi area around 12am.

They introduced themselves as DGFI members to the security guards and entered the house of Gias Uddin Ansari, former managing director of Jamuna Oil Company, breaking open the door, after tying the legs and hand of the security guards with rope.

Sensing the presence of the robbers, the other inhabitants of the building informed the matter to police.

Later, police arrested eleven members of the gang while the others managed to flee the scene.

They also recovered one Chinese axe, one toy pistol and fake identification papers from their possession.
