A bomb found in the premises of Carew & Company Limited in Chuadanga's Darshana was successfully defused by a specialised bomb disposal team from Rapid Action Battalion (RAB).

"The RAB-5 bomb disposal team successfully recovered and defused the bomb. We are investigating to identify who planted it and uncover the motive," said Officer-in-Charge Shahid Titumir of Darshana Police Station.

The suspicious object, wrapped in red tape, was discovered in a bush near the club around 11:30 am on Thursday by the company's security personnel. Upon spotting the object, they immediately informed Darshana Police Station and the local army camp.

In response, Assistant Superintendent of Police (Damurhuda Circle) Zakia Sultana, OC Shahid Titumir, and an army team arrived at the scene.

While the army personnel left after an initial assessment, police and Carew’s security staff maintained a 10-hour vigil around the site, reports UNB.

Later, a trained bomb disposal unit from RAB-5 reached the spot around 8 pm and defused the bomb. The device was detonated safely, creating a loud explosion.

Carew & Company Limited's Manager (Administration) Al Faruq Omar Sharif Galib and Security Officer Mofazzal Hasan said the company is cooperating with law enforcement agencies to find the perpetrators.
