A case has been filed three days after a robbery and molestation took place on a moving bus bound for Rajshahi in Tangail's Mirzapur area. The incident occurred late on the night of February 17, but the complaint was lodged only on February 21.

Omar Ali, a passenger from Baraigram Upazila in Natore, filed the case with Mirzapur Police Station this morning, according to police officer-in-charge Mosharraf Hossain, who confirmed the details to The Business Standard. "As soon as we received the complaint, we registered the case. It is against 8 to 9 unidentified individuals," Hossain stated.

Omar boarded the bus at 11 p.m. on Monday and became a victim of the robbery. By 4 a.m. on February 21, Omar, along with fellow passengers Sohag Hossain and Abu Hanif, was transported to Mirzapur Police Station in a police vehicle, where he signed the First Information Report (FIR). However, Omar reported that the contents of the FIR were not read to him before he signed it.

In his statement, Omar detailed the robbery and the molestation of two female passengers but remains unaware of what was documented in the FIR, as reported by Prothom Alo. He also mentioned encountering the bus supervisor, Suman Islam, 33; the driver, Babul Ali, 30; and the driver's assistant, Mahbub Alam, 28, at the police station, who appeared to be preparing to file a case as well.

"I don't understand what's going on," Omar expressed, perplexed by their presence. "They are involved in the incident, yet they are here to file a case."

Sub-Inspector Khairul Basar of Mirzapur Police Station confirmed to Prothom Alo that a case had been filed regarding the robbery, though he had not seen the FIR and was unaware of its details.

The robbery took place in the early hours of Tuesday, February 18. A group of assailants boarded the bus, which had about 40 passengers on board, and over a span of three hours, stole passengers' belongings and molested female passengers.

The Unique Road Royals bus had left Gabtoli at around 11 p.m. on Monday. The robbery began around 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday when the bus reached Mirzapur, after picking up additional passengers in the Chandra area of Gazipur.

The bus supervisor, driver, and driver's assistant were initially detained by police but were released on bail on February 19. Court sources stated that they were granted bail by the Baraigram Administrative Court, which cited the lack of specific charges against them. As part of the bail conditions, they are required to appear at Mirzapur Police Station, where the incident occurred.
