A KFC restaurant and a Bata shoe showroom in Sylhet were vandalized by protesters on Monday, who accused the brands of having ties to Israel.

The incidents occurred in the Mirabazar and Dargagate areas in the afternoon. Witnesses reported that a group of protesters attacked the KFC outlet in Mirabazar around 3 p.m., damaging several beverage bottles inside. The restaurant management quickly closed the outlet in response.

At the same time, another group targeted the Bata showroom in the Dargagate area, causing significant damage.

Police were dispatched to both locations and brought the situation under control, according to Kotwali Model Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Ziaul Haque.

Some of the demonstrators spoke to reporters, claiming there is no place for businesses allegedly connected to Israel in Bangladesh. "The sale of Israeli beverages at this KFC is unacceptable. Millions in Bangladesh stand in solidarity with our Palestinian brothers. This attack represents a broader message for the entire Muslim world," one protester stated.

Earlier, groups of protesters had gathered outside the KFC restaurant before the violence escalated.
