She was picked up on Wednesday and placed in 30-day security custody on Thursday, said DMP Deputy Commissioner (Media) Talebur Rahman during a briefing on Friday.
"Meghna Alam has been placed under custody following legal procedures on allegations of conspiring to jeopardize state security, spreading misinformation aimed at harming inter-state relations, defaming key figures, and attempting to inflict economic damage to the country. Claims of her abduction are incorrect. However, she retains the right to legal assistance," Rahman stated.
As of Friday afternoon, no formal case had been filed to show her as arrested.
Earlier on Thursday night, DB Chief and Additional DMP Commissioner Rezaul Karim Mallick told the media that Meghna was brought in for interrogation. This was reiterated by DC Talebur Rahman on Friday, confirming her questioning at the DB office.
Despite not being formally arrested in any case, Meghna has been sent to jail under a 30-day custody order allowed by the Special Powers Act, according to authorities.
