On Tuesday, the ACC filed eight separate cases against 23 people for their involvement with the massive graft.
Following the fall of the Awami League government on August 5, allegations of widespread corruption at the local LGED office surfaced.
Later, the Local Government Division and the LGED headquarters investigated and found huge irregularities.
The investigations revealed that bills amounting to over Tk 2,500 crore had been cleared to contractors without completion of work, and graft involving Tk 1,101 crore were identified, reports UNB.
The investigators said the corruption was carried out through collusion between officials of the Pirojpur LGED office and the District Accounts Office.
