The bodies of her daughter Maliha Akter, 6, and son Md Abdullah, 4, were recovered on Friday evening from a rented flat in Purbo Arichpur area of Tongi.
Following the recovery of the bodies, the children’s father Abdul Baten Miah, a transport businessman hailing from Tatuakandi area of Bancharampur upazila in Brahmanbaria , filed a case against unidentified persons.
Police said the two children might have been murdered inside their home on Friday afternoon.
Their bodies were sent to Shaheed Tajuddin Ahmad Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Aleya Begum was initially detained on suspicion Friday night and during interrogation she admitted to the killings, according to GMP Deputy Commissioner MN Nasir Uddin, reports UNB.
He said CCTV footage from the surrounding area showed no one except Aleya entering or leaving the flat during the time of the incident.
During questioning, she told police she committed the murders under the influence of a supernatural entity.
