Former ISKCON leader Chinmoy Krishna Das Brahmachari has been officially arrested in connection with the murder of lawyer Saiful Islam Alif.

The arrest came after the police submitted an application on Sunday evening, leading Chittagong Metropolitan Magistrate SM Alauddin to issue the order following a hearing on Monday.

Assistant Public Prosecutor Rayhanul Wazed Chowdhury confirmed that the investigation officer filed a petition requesting Chinmoy Das' arrest in the case, which was subsequently approved by the court.

For security reasons, Chinmoy Das was not physically presented in court. Instead, he attended the virtual hearing from jail at around 9:30 AM.

Currently, Chinmoy is incarcerated in connection with a sedition case filed at Kotwali Police Station, related to the alleged desecration of the national flag during a political rally.
