Malaysian police have detained 36 Bangladeshi nationals, according to local news outlet Malaysiakini, citing the country’s Home Minister.

The report states that Malaysian police have dismantled a foreign militant network, arresting 36 individuals from Bangladesh.

According to the report, "They were arrested on suspicion of being directly involved in an extremist movement based on radical beliefs and violent ideology."

Home Minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail said the arrests were made during a three-phase security operation that began on April 24 in the states of Selangor and Johor.
