Tk 16 lakh stolen from Khulna Krishi Bank

Over Tk 16 lakh was stolen from a Krishi bank branch in Rupsha upazila in Khulna district on Friday.


The theft is believed to have taken place sometime between Thursday evening and 10:30 pm on Friday, said police.

The incident came to light around 10 pm on Friday when the security guard of the bank found the main collapsible gate of the bank broken.

Mohammad Mahfuzur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Rupsha Police Station, said a group of miscreants stole Tk 16 lakh from the bank after breaking open the vault sometime on Friday night.

Police collected CCTV footages from the area to investigate the theft.

Around 10 pm on Friday, a security guard found the collapsible gate of the bank’s main entrance broken.

Manager of the bank Kamrul Islam said a total of Tk 16.16 lakh was found missing from the bank vault.

Three security guards of the bank -Afzal, Abul Kashem and Tariqul-were detained for interrogation, reports UNB.
