A woman and her teenage son, who suffered severe burns in a fire set allegedly by her husband  in Narsingdi Sadar upazila, have died at the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery in Dhaka.

The victims were Rina Begum, 36, and her son Farhad, 15.

Dr Shawon Bin Rahman, resident surgeon of the institute said on Wednesday that Rina Begum succumbed to her injuries around 9:45 am on Tuesday while her son Farhad died around 12:30 pm on the same day.

According to Dr Rahman, Rina’s husband Karim allegedly set their house on fire by throwing a petrol bomb, leaving his wife and two children critically injured, reports UNB.

All three were rescued in critical condition and admitted to the burn institute on October 23, he added.

Dr Rahman said Rina sustained 58% burns, Farhad 40%, and another son Towhid, 16%.
