A leader of Swechchhasebak Dal was shot dead and another man injured when miscreants opened fire near Bashundhara City in the capital on Wednesday night.

The deceased was identified as Azizur Rahman Musabbir, former member secretary of Dhaka City North Swechchhasebak Dal, the volunteer wing of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP).

Additional Deputy Commissioner (Tejgaon Zone) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police Fazlul Karim confirmed the death.

The injured man, Sufian Byapari Masud, 42, was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), police said.
