Indian police have arrested Faisal Karim Masud, the prime suspect in the murder case of former Inqilab Moncho spokesperson Shaheed Sharif Osman Hadi, near the India–Bangladesh border in West Bengal.
According to West Bengal Police, Masud was detained on Sunday by members of the state’s Special Task Force (STF) from the Bangaon border area.
Authorities said two Bangladeshi nationals—identified as Rahul, also known as Faisal Karim Masud, and Alamgir Hossain—were arrested on charges of illegal entry and unlawful stay in India.
Police officials stated that the detainees are linked to the killing of Bangladeshi political activist Sharif Osman Hadi.
However, Indian authorities have not yet disclosed whether extradition procedures will be initiated. The arrest is considered a significant development in the investigation into the high-profile murder case involving cross-border coordination between law enforcement agencies.
