Govt Prepares for Cyclone 'Dana' with Emergency Measures

Coastal district administrations are implementing extensive preparations to confront the approaching cyclonic storm 'Dana.' The Disaster Management and Relief Ministry held discussions with Deputy Commissioners to ensure readiness, maintaining constant communication, according to a press release.


Emergency meetings were conducted at district offices to finalize plans, and medical teams, along with CPP and Red Crescent volunteers, have been mobilized to respond effectively. Guidelines have been issued to upazila administrations to address any potential cyclone-related situations.

As of the latest update from the Bangladesh Meteorological Department, Cyclone 'Dana' is situated in the East Central Bay of Bengal, approximately 650 km southwest of Chattogram port and moving west-northwest. It has sustained wind speeds of 62 kph, with gusts reaching 88 kph. The sea conditions are expected to be very rough near the cyclone's center.

Maritime ports in Chattogram, Cox's Bazar, Mongla, and Payra have been advised to raise local cautionary signal no. three (R). Fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay and deep sea are urged to seek shelter until further notice.
