Apex Group Chairman Syed Manzur Elahi Passes Away

Syed Manzur Elahi, the prominent businessman and Chairman of Apex Group, has passed away today while undergoing treatment in Singapore. He was 7:30 a.m. when he succumbed to his illness. His children were by his side at the time of his passing, according to a Facebook post by his relative, Syed Almas Kabir.


Elahi was the founding chairman of Mutual Trust Bank PLC (MTB) and held a pivotal role in shaping Bangladesh's business landscape through Apex Group, a leading conglomerate. He earned numerous accolades for his remarkable contributions to trade and industry, including being named "Business Executive of the Year 2000" by the American Chamber of Commerce (AMCHAM), Bangladesh, and "Business Person of the Year 2002."

In addition to his business achievements, Syed Manzur Elahi was appointed twice as an Adviser to Bangladesh’s Caretaker Government, in 1996 and 2001. His death marks the loss of a respected figure who made significant strides in both the industrial and political spheres of Bangladesh.

Elahi’s legacy as a distinguished industrialist and business leader will be remembered by many in the country’s corporate world.
