
Bangladesh Red Crescent Society on Thursday provided emergency medical supplies to Iran as part of humanitarian support for people affected by the ongoing crisis in the Middle East.
Bangladesh Red Crescent Society Secretary General Dr Kabir M Ashraf Alam handed over the assistance to Iranian Ambassador in Dhaka Jalil Rahimi Jahanabadi at the Iranian Embassy in the capital.
Secretary (Bilateral) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Dr Md Nazrul Islam and Director General of the West Asia Wing Md Humayun Kabir attended the programme on behalf of the Bangladesh government, said a press release.
Nazrul Islam expressed deep concern over the loss of lives and damages in the Middle East.
He reiterated Bangladesh’s longstanding position in favour of peace and expressed hope that the crisis would be resolved through diplomatic efforts, ensuring lasting stability in the region.
The Iranian Ambassador expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Tarique Rahman for the humanitarian initiative.
He highlighted the strong and friendly ties between Bangladesh and Iran and thanked the people of Bangladesh for their sympathy and support during this difficult time, reports UNB.
