Bangladesh and Pakistan today reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations and expanding cooperation across key sectors as senior ministers from the two countries held talks in the capital, highlighting the importance of regional connectivity and stronger people-to-people contacts.

The discussion took place during a meeting between State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam and visiting Pakistan Interior and Narcotics Control Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi at a city hotel, according to a Foreign Ministry press release.

During the talks, the two ministers reviewed a wide range of issues of mutual interest and expressed satisfaction over the renewed momentum in bilateral engagement. They reaffirmed their shared resolve to further deepen relations between the two countries.

The ministers observed that significant untapped potential remains for cooperation in areas such as trade and commerce, sports, culture, women’s entrepreneurship, education, science and technology, and digital innovation.

Both sides also emphasized the importance of enhancing people-to-people exchanges and strengthening institutional collaboration to further bolster bilateral ties.

Shama reiterated Bangladesh’s commitment to revitalizing the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) as a key platform for regional cooperation, connectivity and shared prosperity.

The two sides stressed the need for stronger regional collaboration to ensure greater collective benefits for the people of South Asia.
