Bangladesh, Belgium discuss boosting bilateral trade, investment
Bangladesh and Belgium on Tuesday discussed enhancing bilateral engagement in trade and investment.
The two countries also discussed regional and global developments, including the Rohingya crisis, and reaffirmed their shared commitment to peace, stability and multilateral cooperation.
The issues were discussed when Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Bangladesh (resident in New Delhi) Didier Vandersasselt paid a farewell call on Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The two countries exchanged views on the next political consultations, Bangladesh-European Union (EU) cooperation, including prospects for a Bangladesh-EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA), LDC graduation, artificial intelligence (AI), the European Union's role in advancing digital sovereignty, and other areas of mutual interest.
The foreign minister appreciated the ambassador's contribution to strengthening Bangladesh-Belgium relations during his tenure and reaffirmed Bangladesh's commitment to further expanding cooperation, said the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He highlighted the importance of concerted collaboration for expanding safe and regular migration pathways, alongside combatting irregular migration, reports UNB.
