Iran confirms US talks on sidelines of UNGA, says Witkoff requested meeting

Iranian state media has confirmed that Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi met with US special envoy Steve Witkoff, who was part of the US team on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly earlier on Tuesday.
The meeting was held at Witkoff’s request, state broadcaster IRIB reported.
Araghchi reportedly accepted Witkoff’s request in order to reiterate Iran’s conditions for reopening the Strait of Hormuz, which include immediately lifting the naval blockade, immediately releasing all frozen Iranian assets and ending the war on all fronts, including Lebanon, the report added.
