PM Tarique Meets Kuwait Crown Prince in New York

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman held a bilateral meeting with Kuwait’s Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah in New York on Friday, discussing ways to further strengthen the longstanding and friendly relations between Bangladesh and Kuwait.

The meeting was held at Kuwait’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations on the sidelines of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly.

During the meeting, Tarique Rahman recalled the longstanding friendship between the two countries and highlighted the contributions of former President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia to developing bilateral relations and expanding cooperation between Bangladesh and Kuwait.

He said the foundation of mutual respect, goodwill and cooperation established during their time in office had continued to expand over the years.

The prime minister stressed the need to further deepen and diversify the historic relationship for the mutual benefit of the two countries’ peoples.

The two leaders exchanged views on issues of mutual interest, including increasing manpower exports from Bangladesh, expanding trade and investment, and strengthening economic cooperation.

They also discussed regional and international developments and emphasized the importance of maintaining regular communication, cooperation and coordination on matters of shared interest.

Tarique Rahman called for increased high-level political engagement between the two countries and greater cooperation in the areas of economy, trade, investment, manpower and other sectors with potential for mutual benefit.

Both leaders expressed their commitment to further strengthening existing cooperation for the welfare of the peoples of Bangladesh and Kuwait.
