State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaed Islam has called for a long-term Bangladesh-Google partnership to develop digital skills, strengthen institutions and promote the responsible use of technology for the benefit of young people.

She made the call during a meeting between a Bangladesh ministerial delegation and senior Google executives at the company's headquarters in Mountain View, California, on Monday, according to a Foreign Ministry press release issued today.

The talks focused on using technology and artificial intelligence to modernise education, support teachers and improve learning outcomes. The two sides discussed a potential digital education system covering school management, student assessment, educational content and school inspections.

State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Boby Hajjaj outlined priorities for primary education, including curriculum development, teacher training, digital connectivity and improved monitoring.

Google representatives shared experiences in teacher training and AI-supported learning. The discussion covered Google Classroom, Google Workspace
for Education and Gemini for Education, as well as teacher certification, digital safety and the responsible use of AI in classrooms.

Rehan Asif Asad, Adviser to the Prime Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and Science and Technology, highlighted opportunities for cooperation in AI, virtual learning, cloud computing, cybersecurity and data science.

Delegation leader Rashed Al Mahmud Titumir, Adviser to the Prime Minister for Finance and Planning, stressed the need to link education and digital skills with employment and economic growth. He also raised the potential for Bangla-language AI and digital content reflecting Bangladesh's culture and social context.

The two sides discussed opportunities for Bangladeshi creators to reach global audiences through YouTube, alongside creator training, digital safety and sustainable earnings.

They expressed interest in forming working groups to identify priority projects and measurable areas of cooperation.

The Bangladesh Consulate General in Los Angeles, which facilitated the visit, will coordinate follow-up with Google and relevant government agencies, the release said.
