Momen calls for South-South Cooperation to accelerate development

Foreign Minister Dr Abdul Momen has laid emphasis on establishing a forum comprising with the foreign ministers of South-South dialogue for accelerating development with solidarity to face current global economic challenges. 

Global solidarity is needed to find new ways to rebuild the world, he said while making keynote speech at a virtual roundtable discussion held on Monday, a foreign ministry press release said here today. 

The foreign minister said the South-South Cooperation, which was built on the foundation of solidarity, needs to be taken to the next step for expediting national wellbeing and collective self-reliance as well as attaining Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

United Nations Office for South-South Cooperation organized the discussion styled "Our Common Agenda-A Ministerial Dialogue" on the occasion of "Global South-South Development Expo 2022", is being held from September 12 to 15 in Bangkok. 

Thai deputy Prime Minister and foreign minister Armida Salsiah Alisjahbana, Argentine foreign affairs, international trade and worship minister Santiago Andr‚s Cafiero, UN Under-Secretary-General and Executive Secretary of the Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific Rabab Fatima and high representative of Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (UNOHRLLS) also joined the discussion, reports BSS.
