Delhi mission asked: Get map of undivided India in Parliament

State Minister for Foreign Affair Shahriar Alam said on Monday that Bangladesh mission in New Delhi had been asked to get the official version of the Indian government over the map of  the undivided India at its new parliament house.

The new Indian parliament building is adorned with a mural of the map that triggered controversy across  political circles in Pakistan, Nepal and Bangladesh.

"Bangladesh is not confused over the issue, however we asked our mission to know about it" the State Minister told reporters at his office on Monday.

"BANGLADESH IS NOT CONFUSED ABOUT THE MAP OF UNDIVIDED INDIA HUNG IN THE NEW PARLIAMENT BUILDING OF INDIA,' STATE MINISTER FOR FOREIGN AFFAIRS M SHAHRIAR ALAM SAID.

Talking to the reporters at the Foreign Ministry, the state minister said that so far they learnt, the map represents the era of ancient Indian emperor Ashoka, and it has nothing to do with politics.

‘So we are not confused,” he said

Responding to another question on the recent visit of some envoys to BNP office to discuss the coming election, he said if the envoys of foreign countries in Bangladesh violate diplomatic norms and rules, necessary steps will be taken against them.

Replying to a question, Mr Alam said that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs collected a copy of the letter written by several Congressmen to the US President Joe Biden, and most of the information stated in the letter was not correct.

He said propaganda and misinformation against the government was also found earlier, and these might  increase  in future as general elections is looming.
