OIC Secretary-General Meets with Foreign Minister of Russia

Ramallah, 9 September - His Excellency Ambassador Hissein Brahim Taha, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), met today, Monday, 9 September 2024, in Riyadh with His Excellency Mr. Sergey Lavrov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation. 

The meeting discussed issues of common interest, including joint efforts to address regional and international challenges, in particular the Palestinian issue and the conditions of Muslim communities in the World. Both sides stressed the importance of coordination and consultation in supporting international efforts to achieve peace and stability in the world, especially in the OIC countries. 

On the other hand, the two sides valued the distinguished relations and friendship between the OIC countries and the Russian Federation. They expressed their commitment to strengthening partnership and cooperation within the framework of Russia's Observer membership in the OIC. 

The two sides also stressed the importance of the political consultation mechanism to continue dialogue on all issues and agendas of interest to both parties.- OIC News
