Sergei Shoigu, head of Russia's Security Council, met with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un in Pyongyang on Friday, according to Moscow. This visit comes shortly after Russia and North Korea signed a defense pact.

The Russian Security Council described the meeting as occurring in a "uniquely trusting and friendly atmosphere," consistent with the agreements made during President Vladimir Putin's state visit to North Korea in June.
