Bangladesh will participate in the BRICS Summit in Kazan, Russia, from Tuesday to Thursday this week. Foreign Secretary Md Jashim Uddin will head the delegation, according to a senior official from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

During the summit, Jashim is expected to engage in bilateral meetings with counterparts from BRICS member countries and invited leaders.

He will return to Bangladesh on October 25.

In related news, Brazil's President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva has canceled his attendance due to a neck injury sustained at home. He was set to join the summit alongside Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will visit Russia from October 22-23 at the invitation of President Vladimir Putin.

Themed "Strengthening Multilateralism for Just Global Development and Security," the summit will serve as a critical platform for leaders to address pressing global issues, assess BRICS initiatives, and explore future collaboration opportunities.
