Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Border Security Force (BSF) will hold high-level talks from February 17 to 20 in New Delhi, aimed at addressing key border-related issues between the two nations. The Director General (DG)-level meeting is expected to cover a wide range of topics critical to maintaining security and cooperation along the India-Bangladesh border.

The talks come at a crucial time as both countries continue to strengthen bilateral relations, particularly regarding border management, security measures, and joint efforts against transnational crimes. The discussions are likely to include a review of ongoing cooperation and the resolution of any outstanding issues related to border security and management.

Indian Ministry of External Affairs Spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, emphasized the importance of honoring all mutually agreed-upon memoranda of understanding (MoUs) and agreements between the two countries. "We expect all mutually agreed MoUs and agreements to be honoured," Jaiswal stated in a press briefing on Friday, highlighting the significance of sustained cooperation for regional stability.

The BGB-BSF talks are viewed as an essential part of efforts to further enhance bilateral ties between India and Bangladesh, particularly in the context of shared challenges along their border. Both forces are expected to explore avenues for improving coordination, reducing cross-border tensions, and ensuring the safety and security of communities living along the border.

The upcoming talks are a reflection of the long-standing partnership between the two countries in managing their border areas, ensuring smooth trade, and addressing humanitarian concerns. These discussions are also seen as a step towards reinforcing the commitment of both sides to peace, security, and development in the region.
