A three-member BNP delegation, including acting chairman Tarique Rahman’s daughter Zaima Rahman, met Robert A. Destro, former US Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights, and Labour, in Washington on Wednesday.

The delegation, comprising BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir and standing committee member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, discussed various issues with Destro, who is currently involved with the Trump administration’s transition team. Destro, a seasoned American lawyer, educator, and human rights advocate, previously served in key US government roles.

Earlier, the BNP leaders also met former South Carolina Governor David Beasley.

The meetings took place ahead of the National Prayer Breakfast, an influential annual event hosted by the National Prayer Breakfast Foundation.

Zaima Rahman traveled to Washington from London on Tuesday to represent her father, while Fakhrul and Khosru arrived in the US on Sunday (February 2) for the event.
