On Sunday, Foreign Affairs Adviser Md Tohidul Hussain joined the Indian Ocean Conference in Muscat, where he shared the stage with India's External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar, along with the Foreign Ministers of the Maldives, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Oman, Iran, and other countries.

There are strong indications that Adviser Hussain and Minister Jaishankar will hold a bilateral meeting during the 8th Indian Ocean Conference. Spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mohammad Rafiqul Alam, confirmed that the two leaders may meet on the sidelines of the conference, saying, "There is a possibility, and we expect the meeting to take place."

Adviser Hussain arrived in Muscat after a brief stop in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). If the meeting occurs, it will mark the second face-to-face discussion between the two officials since the formation of the interim government led by Prof. Muhammad Yunus in August last year. Their first meeting took place in September at the UN General Assembly in New York.

The 8th edition of the Indian Ocean Conference is being organized by India Foundation in collaboration with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Oman. This year’s theme, "Voyages to New Horizons of Maritime Partnership," reflects the growing importance of maritime collaboration in the region.

The Indian Ocean Conference, first launched by India Foundation in 2016 in Singapore, has since attracted participation from over 30 countries, making it a significant platform for regional dialogue and cooperation.
