Tulsi Gabbard’s Remarks Won’t Impact Bilateral Ties: Adviser
Finance Adviser Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed reassured the public on Tuesday that the recent remarks made by former U.S. Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard would not have any adverse effect on the strong bilateral relations between Bangladesh and the United States, nor would they disrupt the country’s economic activities.
"Tulsi Gabbard's comments will not have any impact on our diplomatic relations or economic landscape," Dr. Ahmed stated during a press briefing following a meeting of the Advisers’ Council Committee on Government Purchase.
When asked about the ongoing efforts to ease congestion at Chattogram Port, Dr. Salehuddin noted that there had been significant improvements in the situation. "The port congestion issue is being addressed and the situation has steadily improved," he added.
In response to reports of soybean oil drifting near a cargo ship, the Finance Adviser acknowledged the situation, saying, "We are fully aware of the issue. Traders often use various tactics, and we are actively working to counter these. As they become more strategic, we must remain vigilant and adaptive."
Regarding concerns of possible negligence, Dr. Salehuddin assured the public that the Ministry of Commerce has been actively involved in handling the matter. "The Ministry has taken appropriate steps, and I am confident they are managing the situation effectively," he concluded.
