“Bangladesh is now fully open for business. We welcome Qatari businesspeople to come and explore the potential here,” Dr. Yunus said, adding that an investment summit will be held in Dhaka in early April to further facilitate these opportunities.
In a gesture of goodwill, the Qatari Ambassador to Bangladesh, Seraya Ali Al-Qahtani, conveyed his country's unwavering support for Bangladesh’s reform agenda. During his visit to the State Guest House Jamuna, Ambassador Al-Qahtani assured Dr. Yunus of Qatar’s commitment to aiding Bangladesh’s economic progress.
“Qatar is eager to extend all forms of support to Bangladesh,” Ambassador Al-Qahtani stated.
Prof. Yunus expressed his gratitude to the Qatari Emir for his country's steadfast support and acknowledged Qatar’s role as a close ally of Bangladesh.
“This is a wonderful development,” Prof. Yunus said, emphasizing the shared history and strong ties between the two nations.
The Qatari ambassador welcomed the invitation and expressed his hope that more Qatari businesses will soon visit Bangladesh to explore these investment prospects.
Dr. Yunus also highlighted the ongoing efforts of the interim government, including the work of the consensus commission, which is facilitating dialogue with political parties to ensure a free and fair election process.
Looking ahead, Dr. Yunus is expected to visit Qatar next month to attend an international conference in the Gulf state.
