Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reaffirmed India’s dedication to advancing its partnership with Bangladesh, emphasizing mutual respect for each other’s interests and concerns. Modi’s remarks were made in a message to Chief Adviser Prof. Muhammad Yunus, extending his felicitations on Bangladesh’s National Day.

“We remain committed to advancing this partnership, driven by our shared aspirations for peace, stability, and prosperity, based on mutual sensitivity to each other’s interests,” Modi stated. He added that the National Day marks a testament to the shared history and sacrifices that have formed the foundation of the strong bilateral relationship.

Modi highlighted the enduring spirit of Bangladesh's Liberation War, which continues to guide the relationship between the two nations. He noted that the partnership has flourished in various areas, offering tangible benefits to both peoples.

Indian President Droupadi Murmu also sent her greetings to Bangladesh President Mohammed Shahabuddin on the occasion. In her message, Murmu emphasized that India’s relations with Bangladesh span a wide range of areas, including trade, connectivity, development, energy, education, cultural cooperation, and people-to-people exchanges.

President Murmu further reaffirmed India’s commitment to its "Neighborhood First" and "Act East" policies, stating that Bangladesh is a key focus of these strategies. “India stands with Bangladesh in its vision of a democratic, stable, inclusive, peaceful, and progressive nation,” she added.
