Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus returned to Bangladesh on Saturday night, concluding his four-day official visit to China, which has been hailed as a "milestone" and "hugely successful" trip.

Dr. Yunus arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 8:10 PM. At the Beijing Capital International Airport, he was seen off by Hong Lei, Assistant Minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Chief Protocol Officer to Chinese President Xi Jinping, marking the end of the "historic" visit, according to the Chief Adviser's Deputy Press Secretary, Abul Kalam Azad Majumder.

During his visit, Dr. Yunus attended the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2025 in Hainan, China, from March 26 to 27, at the invitation of the Forum's Secretary-General. Following this, he traveled to Beijing from March 27 to 29, at the invitation of the Government of the People's Republic of China.

One of the highlights of the visit was a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Friday, where the two leaders discussed strengthening bilateral ties. Vice Premier of China, Ding Xuexiang, also met Dr. Yunus on the sidelines of the Boao Forum, further cementing the growing relationship between Bangladesh and China. In Beijing, Vice President Han Zheng hosted a meeting with the Chief Adviser as well, where the two sides had in-depth discussions on regional and international issues of mutual interest, reaching broad consensus.

On Saturday morning, Dr. Yunus was awarded an honorary doctorate by Peking University (PKU) in a special ceremony held at the institution's conference hall. After receiving the honor, Dr. Yunus addressed the audience, delivering a speech that highlighted the importance of education and innovation in shaping global progress.

He was warmly received by the President of Peking University, the Chairman of the Council, and a select group of Bangladeshi students studying at the university. Following the ceremony, Dr. Yunus had a brief but productive meeting with the university's leadership, further strengthening academic and cultural ties between the two nations.

This successful trip marked a significant step in enhancing bilateral cooperation, with Dr. Yunus playing a key role in strengthening diplomatic, economic, and cultural exchanges between Bangladesh and China.
